PETROLEUM INDUSTRY ACT ITS ECONOMIC IMPACT AND PUBLIC RELATIONS CHALLENGES

THEME: LEVERAGING THE PETROLUEM INDUSTRY ACT FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Landmark petroleum industry regulatory Law known as the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) has been enacted and assented by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The law which was conceived 20 years ago and introduced to the National Assembly 14years ago will reshape the petroleum operational environment in Nigeria. Inspite of its imperfection and the controversy which the P.I.A has generated, the organised private sector believes that P.I.A legislation will serve as the framework that will enhance growth of the oil and Gas industry. The organised private sector also says that the Petroleum industry act will Stimulate Investors interest and give them confidence. The Urgent need for stakeholder’s education and Public Relation was emphasized by the organized private sector and other stakeholders.

It is for this reason that Business Education Exams Council, Africa Leader in Management and Public Relations Education decided to put together this Round table seminar on “Petroleum Industry Act, its Economic Impact and the challenges of Public Relations”
