The main objective of BEEC is to promote and develop for public benefit, the art science of good management practice. BEEC provides professional exams in various management functional areas such as Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Business Management, and Human Resources Management.

The standards of the examinations are very high and are international. They provide candidates the opportunity to think globally and act locally and drawing experience from own local environment. BEEC Examinations are held twice a year in July and November.
All candidates are expected to be registered candidates of BEEC.

BEEC is an independent examinations board which was set up to examine candidates for qualifications in Business and functional areas of Management. Candidates spend a minimum of 4 years preparing for the four levels of Professional Examinations. BEEC Professional Diplomas are a postgraduate degree equivalent. The four parts examinations are in (20) examinations subjects plus dissertation.

National Recognition of BEEC Qualifications

BEEC qualification for example in public relations is recognized by Decree (Act of Parliament) No 16 of 1990 as one of the approved qualifications for the practice of Public Relations in Nigeria. BEEC is also accredited by the National Board for Technical Education to offer Innovative Diploma qualification. BEEC is invited annually to attend JAMB Policy meeting on admission.

BEEC Professional Qualifications

To satisfy the examinations board for the award of BEEC professional diploma, candidates must pass all of the 20 examinations subjects (except where candidate is granted exemptions in relevant subjects covered in previous qualification(s) For example, the holder of a first degree in mass communication or other management qualification is granted part exemption on a Subject for Subject basis.
BEEC qualification comprising of group foundation Part 1, professional certificates parts 2 & 3 and the final part 4 called a professional diploma.

GROUP FOUNDATION PART 1 QUALIFICATION

The foundation certificate, professional certificate and professional diploma demand intensive study for four years. Group foundation level comprising five (5) examination subjects is taught and examined at OND level equivalent. On successful completion of group foundation, candidate will be awarded a group foundation certificate which qualifies such candidate to proceed to the parts 2 & 3 of professional certificate comprising ten (10) examinations subjects. Candidate may wish to take the ten professional certificate subjects in a sitting. This is very much allowed. Any referral must be re-taken. Professional certificate is taught and examined at graduate level.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE PARTS 2 & 3

On successful completion of the professional certificate parts 2 & 3 candidate will be awarded the professional certificate. Candidates MUST pass all the ten professional certificate subjects before applying for professional diploma examination.

PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA PART 4

The professional diploma is taught and examined at Post Graduate level. Professional Diploma is the highest exam qualification offered by BEEC. No subject exemption is granted at DIPLOMA level.

BEEC Group Foundation Certificate Entry Qualification Minimum Entry Requirements

The BEEC Foundation Examinations are open to all candidates who are eighteen years and above. Such candidate should have passed the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE), NECO or GCE O’Level and must have passed at least five (5) subjects in not more than one sitting. University entry qualification is appropriate. The Council will also consider other qualifications that are equivalent to ordinary level including experienced mature candidates.

GUIDED PREPARATION

All students preparing for BEEC qualification must be registered students of BEEC. The Students registration form should be completed online. Payment of the students registration fee of N6, 500 (Six thousand, five hundred naira) the students registration fee is renewed annually. Students are free to prepare for BEEC exam in the institution of their choice including polytechnics, Colleges & Private institution. BEEC also provides on-line training. BEEC also provides intensive day and week-end tuition or obtain self-guided manuals prepared by BEEC. Students who wish to be prepared by BEEC intensive class should send separate application stating if it is week day or week end programme he/she wishes to be prepared for by BEEC training.

  8. GFC 1008 Principles Public Relations

These courses are taught within a period of one year.

Assessment – The Awarding organization of BEEC is responsible for Exams administration and assessment. Assessment is through three hours examination of 8 questions for each of the paper and candidates will select 5 questions to answer. To earn the Group Foundation certificate candidates are expected to pass the five paper exam.

PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE EXAMINATIONSMinimum Entry Requirements

Candidate who wishes to sit for BEEC professional examinations
in public relations should possess one or a combination of the
following:

  • BEEC Group Foundation Certificate
  • London Chamber of Commerce & Industry Examinations Board (LCCIEB) level 3 qualification in Public Relations, Marketing and Advertising
  • A recognized university degree in social sciences, arts, and humanities or any other qualification from a recognized institution. BEEC will grant exemption on a subject for subject basis in relevant papers which degree holders have passed for their degree examinations and passed exemption of subjects is at the discretion of the Council after viewing their transcript.
  • SSCE/WASC, NECO, or GCE O’Level with credits in five Subjects which will include English Language.

BEEC EXAM STRUCTURE AND DATES

The examination is Witten at three levels (1) Group Foundation Examinations, (2) Professional Certificate Examinations and Professional Diploma Examinations which are held in July and November every year in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, Jos, Warri, Uyo, Ibadan, Port-Harcourt, Benin and OWERRI. July exams entry closes on the 30 th of June and November examination entry closes on 30th October every year.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS WITH BEEC QUALIFICATIONS.

BEEC Diploma holders use the qualification to register as a practicing member of the following professional bodies:

Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Nigeria Institute OF Public Relations (NIPR), and Nigerian Institute of Management. Holders can also use it to apply for higher degrees in the universities in some of the following universities: University of Nigeria Nsukka, Enugu State University of Technology, Olabisi Onabanjo University Ago-Iwoye, Lagos State University, and also overseas in Glamorgan University, Warwick University etc.
